Chief Executive Officer

Prof. John Mungania PhD (Edu.), HSC
Prof. John K. Mungania is a seasoned educationist, administrator, and religious leader with over four decades of experience in academia, healthcare administration, and community service. His extensive academic journey includes numerous qualifications that highlight his dedication to lifelong learning. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Kenyatta University, where his dissertation focused on HIV/AIDS education in Nyambane District. He also earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Biblical Counseling from Iliff School of Theology in the USA and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communications from Wheaton Graduate School. Additionally, he has a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communications with High Honors from Messiah College, USA, and a Diploma in Theology from Makerere University, among other certifications and diplomas in education, theology, and religious studies.

Over the years, Prof. Mungania has held pivotal roles in academic and institutional leadership. He is currently the CEO and Administrator of Maua Methodist Hospital, where he is driving transformative changes to improve healthcare delivery. Prior to this role, he served as the Vice-Chancellor of the Presbyterian University of East Africa from 2016 to 2021, following his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration at the same institution. His earlier roles included serving as Quality Assurance Director and Academic Dean at International Leadership University (ILU) and holding senior academic positions at Meru University College of Science and Technology, Kenya Methodist University, and other esteemed institutions. In recognition of his contributions to education, community service, and religious leadership, he was awarded the Head of State's Commendation (HSC) in 2006.

As an academic, Prof. Mungania has made significant contributions to teaching and research. He has delivered impactful lectures on topics such as educational leadership, community-based HIV/AIDS education, communication strategies in leadership, and faith-based counseling. His expertise in blending communication and leadership has benefited both academic and religious institutions, while his insights into healthcare administration are shaping strategies for effective hospital management.

Currently, as the CEO of Maua Methodist Hospital, Prof. Mungania is spearheading the 7 Agenda Initiative, focusing on enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services. This initiative includes Expanding the surgical theatre, improving imaging services, Establishing comprehensive funeral home services, Strengthening perimeter wall security, Upgrading the outpatient department (OPD) face, Upgrading laboratory facilities, Expanding the hospital's training college, pursuing ISO accreditation where needed.

Prof. Mungania’s career is a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence in service and leadership. His contributions span academia, religious ministry, and healthcare, where he has consistently championed transformative growth. As an educator and leader, he has nurtured future generations while enhancing institutional frameworks for better service delivery. His legacy is defined by a blend of vision, action, and dedication to the betterment of communities and organizations he serves.



Medical Oficcer Incharge

Dr. Griffins Omondi

Dr. Omodi is a dedicated healthcare professional with a strong passion for health improvement and health system strengthening policies. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Nairobi and a Project Management certificate from the University of Washington. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) at Liverpool John Moores University. He has been a senior Medical Officer in Maua Methodist hospital who steered the hospital in a health system strengthening project from 42% to 88% performance metric indicators In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Omodi is a committed preacher with a Diploma in Bible from Amazing Facts Bible School. He has also gained valuable international experience through an internship in international development at Dataville Research LLC in Abuja, Nigeria..


Acting Nursing Services Incharge

Sr. Fidelis Kagwiria
Sr. Fidelis is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nursing at Kenya Methodist University, building on her foundation from Consolata Wamba School of Nursing, where she earned her diploma. With eight years of management experience, she is deeply committed to prioritizing patient care, demonstrating her dedication to the well-being of her patients. Throughout her career, Sr. Fidelis has held various roles, including Facility Nurse In-Charge, Ward In-Charge, Infection Prevention Champion, and Deputy Nursing Manager. Her vision is to cultivate a team of empowered professional nurses who are equipped to provide high-quality care to all patients.


Acting Financial Controller

CPA. Emily Kanyua Manene
Emily is a CPA(K) finalist and a member of ICPAK Mount Kenya region. She serves as the ICPAK convenor for Tharaka Nithi County. With a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance, Emily has over 10 years of experience as a senior accountant and more than 7 years as a finance manager. She is dedicated to driving financial excellence and transparency in all her endeavors. Emily’s vision is to foster sustainable financial practices that empower organizations to thrive while mentoring the next generation of finance professionals to ensure a strong future for the industry.



Acting Human Resource Manager

Mr. Franklin Mutwiri
Franklin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Murang'a University of Technology and is pursuing his Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) certification. He is a dedicated Human Resource professional with over three years of experience and has risen through the ranks at Maua Methodist Hospital from Human Resource Support Assistant to Human Resource Officer, and now serving as the acting Human Resource Manager. Known as a staff champion, he excels in resolving staff issues and fostering a positive work environment. He is recognized for his strategic approach to HR management and commitment to enhancing staff welfare and organizational effectiveness.


Hospital Chaplain

Rev.Samuel Kathawe M'wereria

Rev. Samuel is an ordained minister with the Methodist Church in Kenya. He has a Bachelor of Divinity from St. Paul's University Limuru and a Masters in Theology from Methodist Theological University in South Korea. He has served as a Superintendent Minister in several Circuit and lastly served as a Bishop of Miathene for 8 years and now as the head of Chaplaincy in MMH.



Principal, Methodist College of Health Sciences (MCHS)

Mr. Leonard Mbaabu Kimwere
Mr.Mbaabu has Master of Science in Health Systems Management. He originally trained in MMH. As the Principal Tutor, he is committed to seeing that MCHS provides the students with a well-rounded training experience coupled with character education and exposure to creativity and innovation to graduate confident, caring and responsible citizens to face global competition.
